A-Level Revision UK

The founders of A Level Revision UK, Abigail Chadd and Russell Tomlin, talk to us about the recent changes in A level exams and how revision courses can be the key to student success.

What are the main challenges of the new A levels?

Over the last three years A levels have returned to linear qualifications. The main challenge for students is that the full qualification is now assessed and awarded at the end of two years of study, therefore a student’s ability to retain information as well as apply it is fundamental.

Why is revision so important?

The implications of all exams falling at the end of each A level course is huge. Two years of study now comes down to two or three papers per subject without the option to re-sit and improve. A well structured and organised revision programme can make a huge impact on student achievement as well as alleviating the stress and anxiety surrounding these crucial exams.

Why did you start the company?

In 2014, when both working in the sixth form sector, we became increasingly frustrated with the quality of tutoring our students were receiving from large revision companies. As a result, in 2015 we set out to create a company specialising only in delivering A level specific revision courses offering the highest quality teaching and resources.

What courses do you currently offer?

We focus solely on intensive revision courses which take place during the sixth form and college holidays. Our most popular courses take place during the Easter holidays and span across two, three or four days. A Level revision UK is currently offering up to twelve A level subject options in London and in Manchester.

Why is A Level Revision UK different to other providers?

We have always been driven by providing quality, meaning class sizes are kept small and courses are exam board specific. We only specialise in A level revision and we know from working in the sector what the demands are and how important good tuition is. Our tutors are highly experienced in delivering A levels with proven track records of excellent teaching. In addition our courses are run at University campus locations allowing our students a unique insight into life and study at a University.
