The Sunday Roast Review : The Pheasant Inn
The quintessentially British Sunday Roast is one of our most popular dishes, so we sent the team out to sample some of the best in the region
Louisa, Iain and Amber Warde took a family trip to The Pheasant Inn
Nestled in the Peckforton Hills, The Pheasant Inn is a great spot for those who love the outdoors, offering amazing views across the plains, accommodation for tired walkers and a resting place for your four-legged friends too. Whilst the menu caters for light and larger bites we were only
interested in the Sunday roasts – there are two options every week based on the best meats available at the time. Roast pork and roast beef were on the menu this week and we were eagerly seated at 12noon for our feast after a weekend on DIY and decorating.
Arriving promptly our plates were piled high and topped with a giant Yorkshire pudding. Vegetables included red cabbage, cauliflower cheese, mashed potatoes, roast potatoes, and carrots, topped with a generous helping of meat, gravy and Yorkshire pudding on top. It was just what we needed and our plates were cleaned, with the help of our nine-month-old Yorkshire Pudding thief, Amber, and Monty, the dog from the next table who happily cleaned up any dropped food from said thief.
For us, The Pheasant Inn was a welcoming venue, the staff and fellow diners happy to chat without any worries that our little one was going to make a mess as she masters the art of eating. It’s also a great place to start or finish a walk, Sunday roast and stunning views awaiting.
