Top of the Class - Withington Girls School
We spoke to pupil Miranda Bate and Headmistress Sarah Haslam from Withington Girls’ School to find out what makes their school exceptional
Miranda Bate, Year 12 pupil
“During our time at the school, we’re able to fulfill our different interests while having a strong sense of community and union with our common love for learning and respect for ourselves and each other. All of the teachers have been so inspiring and have helped me to be the best version of myself. They’ve encouraged me to pursue my sporting interests (Miranda represents England Lacrosse at Under 19 level) as well as my academic ones and enable us to go beyond the specification of both GCSEs and A-levels to give us a truly unique academic experience with learning in all its forms at the heart. I‘ve loved my time at Withington!”.
Sarah Haslam, Headmistress
“While we are consistently ranked as the top performing school in the North West based on results across A Level and GCSE public exams, those who know Withington understand that what really makes Withington special cannot be tested or measured. While we may have a high bar to clear when it comes to admission in Year 7, our commitment is to support and guide every girl who joins us through to the end of Sixth Form. As a school with no scholarships or academic prizes, our girls are free to develop and explore their academic potential and broader interests in a productive, collaborative and happy environment, with their personal and social development, health and wellbeing always a central focus.”
