A Fairytale Wedding At Château Rhianfa
Events Executive, Elin Williams on why your blissfully ever after begins at Château Rhianfa
Château Rhianfa is set in an enchanting location, what do you feel draws couples to Anglesey?
A lot of our couples are drawn to Anglesey because it reminds them of childhood holidays when they were growing up, it was a special place for their families and it’s lovely they then choose to have their wedding here.
How does your experienced team of wedding planners use their expertise and imagination to guide nervous, new couples through the process of planning their wedding?
We have the same Wedding Planner from the start of the couples journey to the end. From their first enquiry, to the show around, to the big day and to the day of checkout they deal with the same person. We think this helps our couples in their wedding planning journey as they know it’s the same person who has helped them in the lead up that will be there with them on their big day.
The Château offers a fairytale backdrop for photos - what is your advice on planning an outdoor wedding?
There is no place better on a lovely summer’s day than Château Rhianfa with the views of Eryri Mountains and the Menai Straits; some people do say it’s like being in Italy. However our advice is to always have a backup plan! We’re also very lucky here at the Château to have a gorgeous interior with our Lounges, Cloisters and Garden Room for drinks reception and photographs but pack some clear or white umbrellas just in case you go for some rainy day photos!
The Banqueting Hall is the perfect setting for a wedding meal, how do you work with couples to create the perfect menu for their big day?
We’re very lucky to have a talented Head Chef, Hefin Roberts who creates our wedding menus each year from the canapes menu to the evening buffet. We also offer a tasting evening for couples where they get to try some dishes from the menu which helps pick the perfect dish.
What advice would you give to create an elegant autumn/winter wedding?
Autumn and winter weddings are a personal favourite of ours here at Château Rhianfa. We love the changing colours of the gardens, the cosy interior of the lounges and Banqueting Hall with their roaring fires and of course our Christmas decorations. Our advice is to embrace the season. Focus on warmth and cosyness while also utilising the early sunsets for photographs.
What are current wedding trends - what’s proving popular?
Intimate ceremonies with a larger evening celebration are trends we’re seeing going into 2026 and 2027. Couples want to enjoy their wedding ceremony with their closest family and friends then enjoy a big party afterwards. We think this is a brilliant idea, much less nerves in the ceremony and more time with guests throughout the day.
Tell us about a favourite wedding you’ve organised recently…
All the weddings we’ve been lucky enough to be a part of here at Château Rhianfa have been special. If we did have to pick something recently, it was from a wedding in August where the bride had family in Italy and she’d added small details throughout the day to incorporate her Italian family. From the menu choice, to table numbers and (our favourite) an ice cream cart on our terrace where each ice cream had an Italian flag on top.
