Tiffany Salmon Founder of GlowHub looks at your summer skin routine
While the core products of my skincare routine tend to remain the same all year round (apart from trying out new formulas of course!), as the summer months sneak in and warm weather brings a whole load of new skin challenges (sun damage, sweat, air con drynessβ¦) I like to switch up small elements of my routine - light layers of hydration, a strong commitment to SPF and regular decongestion! From mask to mist, hereβs my summer essentials that I canβt be withoutβ¦
Summer heat = sweat, pollution and frequent SPF top ups, so I definitely find my skin getting more decongested. I use the Glow Hub Purify & Brighten Face Mask Stick a couple times a week to do a deep dive into pores and detox. Formulated with Kaolin Clay to draw out those impurities, while Salicylic Acid and White Willow bark exfoliates, unclogging pores and helping keep sweat induced breakouts at bay.
While a detox is definitely necessary, so is making sure to keep skin hydrated and fresh. Yes, we usually lean towards thicker, more moisturising products during the winter and lighten up during the summer, but with both heat and aircon being drying for the skin, a hit of hydration is still very much needed! For an on-the-go refreshment I love the Nourish & Hydrate Serum Mist, with Hyaluronic Acid (the ultimate hydration hero) Peach Extract and Coconut Water. My top tipβ¦ when itβs really hot keep it in the fridge and spritz away for the ultimate refreshment, or even as an after-sun.
Then, for my Summer moisturiser Iβm a big fan of our ultra-soothing Calm & Smooth Cool Whip Moisturiser for both face and dΓ©colletΓ© β not only is it great for cooling you down but with calming hemp and jojoba and a soothing shea butter base, itβs also incredible for irritated skin thatβs been exposed to the sun.
And donβt forget the bodyβ¦ Iβm definitely a tad lazy when it comes to body care but the Soak Sunday Bath & Body Oils (Iβm loving Rose Utopia right now) are the ideal multi-use body care product. I either slather on pre-shower to scrub my self-tanner off when it builds up in summer, or apply to damp skin fresh out of the shower in the evenings to rehydrate my skin after a long day in the sun without leaving it sticky or greasy.
Talking of my evening routineβ¦ Iβm an avid double cleanser all year round, but in the Summer, I really do believe itβs a must to really get rid of that sweat, dirt and SPF. I start with the Glow Hub Nourish & Hydrate Cleansing Balm. Not only is it super hydrating with Peach, Coconut and Hyaluronic Acid, but also gives your skin a really deep cleanse. Follow with a water-based cleanser for your second cleanse, I use the Purify & Brighten Jelly Cleanser with Blueberry and Black Tea to smooth and balance without drying skin out.
Anyone else get super dry lips during summer? My in-flight essential (fingers crossedβ¦) - Pep Talk Plumping Peptide Rescue Balm. Made for dehydrated lips dried out by long hot days and lots of air con, itβs infused with plumping peptides, castor, avocado, rosehip and almond oils and works on the go or as an overnight treatment. I also pop it on my cuticles and on the heels of my feet when they get really dry.
Last but certainly not least SPF⦠my favourite is the Heliocare Gel Oil Free, Factor 50. It layers perfectly under makeup whilst keeping my skin safe and protected, all without clogging my pores or leaving me oily.
