In total, students at the Greater Manchester independent school have clocked up 13 competition wins, nine runners up titles and five semi-finalist positions. Eight of the triumphs were accomplished by girls’ teams.

In netball, the under-13s quad won three tournaments, including the World Schools Netball Cup, the under-12s took home two first place trophies and the under-15s and under-19s both clocked up a Manchester and district win each.

In cricket, the girls’ U13s and U15s and boys U12s were all crowned Cheshire Cup winners, with the boys’ U14s team finishing as runners up.

A Cheshire Festival win was gained by the boys’ rugby U12s and in boys’ football, both the U12s and U13s were named Stockport Schools’ League champions.

Also in football, two students, Jay Bassi and Joe Townley, were picked for the U15 England squad. Dylan Sime and James Wright have made the Manchester United and Manchester City youth teams, with Bruno Padovani Asencio signing up with Stoke City, Dnovan Lescott at Bury and Ollie McFadyen at Fleetwood.

In hockey, student Caitlin Polley made the England U18 squad and Felix Tully, the England U16s.

In swimming, two teams (boys intermediate and girls junior) made the national finals.

And in rugby, former student Tom Curtis gained the England U18 cap and took up a professional contract with Sale Sharks, whilst Zak Sebouai and Oliver Casson joined the Sale Sharks U17s. Nine U15s players joined the Sale Sharks Developing Player Programme.

Matt Higgins, the schools' director of sport, said: β€œEvery year we celebrate sporting achievements at Cheadle Hulme School, but 2018/19 has brought unprecedented success.

β€œNetball has been the standout sensation of the season, with three national titles for our U12s and U13s, but students have excelled themselves across the board – both in terms of team wins and individual accolades.

β€œI believe this success is at least in part down to our unique Elite Sport Programme, which enables students to adopt the exacting lifestyle of a professional sportsperson, whilst continuing their studies.”
