Here we meet the team and get advice on how to make gifting easier.
Can you tell us a little bit about yourselves?
Ras: I hold a Masters degree in HR Management and prior to setting up Build My Gift I worked for luxury good conglomerate LVMH - Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton - and the BBC. When choosing a career path it was never my intention to start my own business or be an entrepreneur. I took a traditional route of degree, masters and then into my first job – a HR role. Working in HR for more than five years and progressing in my career, it wasn’t until I was hit with a lightbulb moment that I decided I wanted more.
Manveel: I have always loved taking on new challenges and my entrepreneurial spirit has meant I have managed several businesses since graduating from Aston University with a Business Management degree. Over the past year since setting up BuildMyGift.com, I have come to realise owning my own business is so much more than just a job or a career, it’s a passion, because if you don’t have this passion you’re going to fail.”
Can you tell us the inspiration behind your business?
We created Build My Gift out of a need for better gifting options and a joy for treating those closest to us. Our underlying mission is to help spread love and appreciation. Showing gratitude through a gift, be it big or small, is a custom we have always believed in – there is no better feeling than bringing a smile to someone’s face. We have always loved to gift however we often found ourselves frustrated with roaming store to store to find that perfect something – it was costly, time-consuming not to mention inconvenient. We wanted our gifts to feel personal and well thought out, memorable and uplifting. Wouldn’t it be perfect if it all could be done in one place?...from there, the idea of Build My Gift was born!
Presumably the lead up to Christmas is a busy time for you? To us it feels like this year has flown by, and it’s certainly not slowing down any time soon. At Build My Gift HQ September is a huge milestone because we’re in full on Christmas prep mode. We’ve mastered the art of planning ahead so if there’s one piece of advice we could tell our corporate clients it’s this: start thinking about your holiday gifting now!
