Master The Bridal Glow-Up
Bridal Hair and Makeup Artist Alice Elizabeth shares her guide to prepping your hair and skin for the big day
Based in Hale Village, Alice Elizabeth is a luxury bridal hair and makeup artist covering Cheshire, Manchester and beyond. With over a decade of beauty experience - including eight at Charlotte Tilbury - she specialises in creating flawless, enhanced makeup, designed to enhance natural skin without feeling heavy. Her kit features a selection of high performance brands, including Charlotte Tilbury, Hourglass, Dior and Maria Nila.
Alice comments: “Bridal hair and makeup isn’t just about creating a beautiful look for the morning; it has to be designed to last. A bride’s glam needs to carry her from early morning right through to the evening celebrations, while standing up to the weather, photographs, happy tears, dancing and everything else the wedding day brings.
“I think longevity comes down to using the right products and techniques but also understanding the individual bride, her skin and hair and how the finished look needs to perform throughout the day.”
Alice welcomes brides to her studio in Hale Village for their trials, enjoying the personal side of bridal work and getting to know each bride before her wedding day. She says: “I always say that your hair and makeup artist is one of the first people you see on your wedding day, so it’s always so important to choose well as we really do set the tone for the day. As well as creating a beautiful finished look I pride myself on being calm, friendly and reliable and making sure my brides feel relaxed and completely looked after.”
Here, Alice shares her top tips to help brides prep their skin and hair for the walk down the aisle.
#1 - Start prepping your skin well in advance
Beautiful bridal makeup starts with good skin. Keeping the skin hydrated and gently exfoliating regularly makes a huge difference to how well makeup sits. I’d always recommend getting into a good skincare routine well before the wedding.
#2 - Don’t overlook your hair preparation
In the months leading up to your wedding taking care of your hair is so important. Regular trims, nourishing treatments and using the right products for your hair type can all help improve its condition and create the perfect canvas for your bridal style. The healthier your hair is the more options hairstylists have when creating your dream bridal look. Whether you’re envisioning soft waves or a sleek updo, investing in your hair health beforehand can make a noticeable difference to both the styling process and the finished result.
#3 - Make the most of your bridal trial
A trial isn’t just about deciding whether you like the hair and makeup. It’s an opportunity to really understand what makes you feel your best, consider how everything works with your dress, veil and accessories and make sure you feel completely confident before the big day.
