Owen’s Kitchen and Bar

Ange Seddon visited  Owen’s Kitchen and Bar in Hale Village

Last month we popped along to the pre-opening canapés and cocktails event at the latest addition to the thriving bar and restaurant scene in fashionable Hale Village, Owen’s Kitchen and Bar.

I could tell instantly that this place is going to be a hit just by the warmest of welcomes we received. This is the second venture for the family owned Owen’s, the first being in Urmston, a fabulous restaurant which is popular and well loved by locals and visitors alike. I was told the name Owen is from the owner's grandfather and straight away you get a great sense of family and wonderful, warm hospitality.

The menu is ‘English cuisine with the vibrant and aromatic spices of the subcontinent.’ It’s not huge, but that tells me everything is prepared and cooked fresh. They work closely with local suppliers to deliver the best seasonal ingredients in their dishes. It’s a place, while elegant and stylish, welcomes all to enjoy great food and a ‘warm and inviting atmosphere.’

They serve brunch, a cracking Sunday lunch as well as lunches and evening meals all with a ‘fusion of cultures, flavour and traditions.’ So whether it’s a welcoming and generous brunch, a Sunday lunch with the family, or an elegant and classy evening out with the girls, Owen’s meets all of these occasions beautifully.

The menu changes once a quarter to reflect the changing seasons and produce and the vegetarian and vegan offerings look as delicious as the rest. The canapés we were served gave us a great taste of what was on offer, their attention to detail was excellent and the flavours balanced beautifully.

Of course I had to peruse the wine list too and discovered an excellent and eclectic mix of great wines to suit all tastes and pockets. Their cocktails and spirits list was impressive as well, perfect for a night out.

While this place fits in so well with Hale and its other restaurants, I also get a great sense of family, and I for one, look forward to visiting again.
