The Boodles May Festival Returns In Style
The scene is set for an electrifying season of racing ahead
The racing season is galloping into view, bringing with it a series of exhilarating race days and unforgettable social occasions. There is a real buzz around the city season as the world’s oldest operating racecourse opens its gates to an action-packed 2026 season.
Running from May until September, the season hits its stride with the return of the Boodles May Festival. First introduced in 1766, the historic festival is the cornerstone of Cheshire’s social calendar and features three days of top-tier racing. The season officially begins on Wednesday 6th May with Trials Day where up and coming stars feature in key trials for the Epsom Derby and Oaks. Widely regarded as the social pinnacle of the season, Ladies Day returns on Thursday 7th May, inviting guests to dress to impress for the chance to win the coveted ‘Best Dressed’ title and prizes. The festival hits its grand finale with the Ladbrokes Chester Cup Day on Friday 8th May. This historic long-distance handicap race culminates with the winner taking home the prestigious Chester Cup.
