The Secret to Perfect Sleep
Inside Norvegr’s world of bespoke bedding
Nils Stene, CEO
For those who believe that true luxury is a great night’s sleep, Norvegr has long been the ultimate secret. Three generations of the Stene family in Trondheim have been crafting tailor-made down duvets and pillows since 1956. Loved by royals, rock stars, and the world’s leading interior designers, this Norwegian heritage brand has elevated sleep into an art form.
A Bespoke Sleep Experience
Every Norvegr piece begins with a detailed sleep consultation. These details shape the design of your duvet and pillows. Unlike mass-produced bedding, Norvegr duvets use channels instead of box-stitching, allowing air to move naturally from head to toe. Paired with the finest European down, this design ensures a gentle circulation of warmth and breathability, comfort that adapts seamlessly to all seasons and all sleepers.
Crafted for Generations
A Norvegr duvet is not simply bought, it is invested in for life. Each piece can be restored and renewed, allowing it to stay with its owner for up to half a century. Customers send their bedding back to Norvegr’s family-run cleaning facility in Norway, the country’s only specialist in down restoration, for a meticulous renewal service. The brand recommends restoration every ten years for duvets and every five for pillows.
Sustainability in Its Purest Form
Norvegr’s most coveted creations are its limited-edition eiderdown duvets, filled with down collected from abandoned eider duck nests on the remote Norwegian island of Svalbard. After midsummer, the mother and her ducklings head out to sea, leaving behind nests lined with down plucked from her own chest. The Norvegr team carefully gathers this material without ever disturbing the birds, preserving one of nature’s rarest luxuries.
Light as Air, Warm as a Hug
One of the first surprises for Norvegr newcomers is the weightlessness of the duvets. Many wake the next morning, rested and warm, marvelling that something so light could feel so snug. “All our customers react to the lightness,” explains Nils Stene CEO and the third generation to lead Norvegr. “It’s so airy and soft, it regulates your body temperature in a way that feels intuitive. It warms when you’re cold, cools when you’re hot, all while feeling like you’re sleeping beneath a warm cloud.”
Preventing ‘Sleep Divorce’
For couples with differing sleep temperatures, Norvegr has designed the perfect solution: a dual-fill duvet, custom-filled to each partner’s exact preferences. Through joint consultations, Norvegr creates a single duvet with two distinct fill-powers, ensuring harmony in every shared bed. “It might sound simple,” says Nils, “but for many, it transforms the way they sleep together.”
An Heirloom Worth Dreaming About
With pillows ranging from £121 to £852, and duvets from £742 to £44,683, each piece is hand-finished in Norway, a quiet emblem of lasting quality in a world of disposable comfort. For those seeking the missing piece of the sleep puzzle, Norvegr remains, quite literally, the stuff dreams are made of.
