The Jan Constantine Frida Kahlo Cushion
by Jan Constantine
The Jan Constantine Frida Kahlo cushion has been officially approved by the Frida Kahlo Corporation. It is a beautiful example of hand embroidered appliqué in felt wool; depicting the artist in her traditional Mexican dress, with her braided hair and distinctive floral headdress, sitting against a background of vibrant green palm leaves. This design is a variation of the iconic image that featured on the front cover of French Vogue in Frida's hey day (1939). The cushion is available with either a cream or black background, edged in green blanket stitch and fastened on the back with two mother of pearl buttons.
One of the most iconic artists and women of the 20th century, Frida Kahlo was the subject of a major exhibition at the Victoria and Albert Museum in 2018, called ‘Making Her Self Up’.
