A first look at Amber Alehouse, the liveliest bar in Manchester Airport that puts Manchester music front and centre of every passenger’s experience
As you prepare for your sun-soaked summer getaway, ease into your journey with a visit to the revamped Amber Alehouse in Manchester Airport’s Terminal 2.
Fresh Design
To accommodate the growing number of passengers travelling through Terminal 2, Amber Alehouse has undergone a complete refresh and extension, adding a further 100 seats. The updated venue now offers views overlooking the Boutique Mall with a glass ceiling bathing the extension in natural light.
The bar’s aesthetic is strongly influenced by Manchester’s iconic music scene, with décor inspired by The Haçienda, the city’s nightclub. The space features a dedicated vinyl wall, bright neon lights and imagery of the city’s famous artists including rock legends Joy Division, Inspiral Carpets and Oasis.
Set The Soundtrack
Music is woven into the very fabric of Manchester’s identity, making the soundtrack at Amber Alehouse central to the experience. Guests are encouraged to sing along to their favourite rock anthems, while a live DJ will perform at select dates throughout the year to help travellers kick-start their holiday in style. This is a venue truly designed for dancing.
Ultimately, control of the playlist lies with the guests; an interactive jukebox allows you to curate the atmosphere. Simply scan the QR to request a song and set the tone for your journey.
Renewed Menu
Amber Alehouse curated a new northern-inspired menu that will please every palate. Guests can tuck into comfort food favourites, including beer-battered haddock pieces with chips and mushy peas or pulled ham hock with melted Cheddar sauce, with chips and a fried egg. For those travelling in groups, share boxes range from BBQ or salt-and-pepper chicken wings to an Indian-style munchbox. The menu also features a range of inspired grilled cheese sandwiches such as the chicken tikka with mozzarella and cheddar on a thick-cut bloomer, alongside burgers packed with northern soul. And to top it off, complimentary gravy is available with every order. It doesn’t get more northern than that.
The team has also partnered with Salford’s Seven Bro7hers Brewing Co. to provide locally crafted beers and cask ales alongside Manchester music-inspired cocktails. Highlights include a ‘Fool’s Gold’ (a mint-infused twist on a whisky sour), ‘Coffee & Alcohol’ (a sweet take on an espresso martini) and the ‘Sweet Symphony’, which captures the coconut, custard and cherry flavours of a classic Manchester tart.
Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, Amber Alehouse offers a warm Mancunian welcome in Terminal 2. Surrounded by iconic Manchester album art and fuelled by the best Se7en Brothers draught ales and exceptional food, it is the ultimate pre-flight celebration of Manchester.
