Location
Vilamoura stands as one of the Algarve’s most prestigious destinations and offers a little something for everyone. Domes Lake Algarve is perfectly placed, being only a 5 minute walk to the glamorous marina that has a whole host of restaurants, bars and cute spots to lunch in and watch the world go by. For those drawn to the sand and sea, the resort is also a very short walk to Praia da Falésia beach, well known for its bright red and white clay cliffs, soft sand and clear waters. There’s also plenty to do for families with the nearby Zoo de Lagos and Zoomarine which both offer a full day of fun activities.
Domes Lake Algarve is itself a scenic landscape of greenery and natural beauty. With a private lake of its own, this five-star resort also has a signature wooden walking deck, designed for a nice stroll to the nearby bars, observation pergolas and restaurants that are set on the lake.
Rooms and Suites
Throughout the hotel, palatial interiors are brought to life through intricate mosaics, burnished bronze and colourful tiling. This decor contrasts peacock blues and deep burgundies with nature-inspired wallpaper. The domed ceilings, dramatic hanging fabrics and flood of natural light combine to create a sense of royal grandeur.
The resort’s accommodation ranges from family-focused luxury suites to exclusive private residences and the prestigious Haute Living suites. Each offers its own mini retreat, with views over the serene lake, inviting pools or the marina skyline.
Facilities
The resort has an extensive range of facilities, designed to keep guests of every age entertained throughout their stay. These include a collection of swimming pools, most notably a sand-bottom pool with a lakefront setting designed to evoke the feeling of a secluded private beach.
The private saltwater lake provides a tranquil backdrop for the resort, perfect for leisurely walks and lakeside activities to get involved with. For those seeking a little rejuvenation, the Soma Spa offers a range of wellness treatments and you can build up a sweat in the modern gym area.
As Vilamoura is a true golfer’s paradise, the resort has also recently launched a new dedicated golf concierge service that helps in selecting the ideal course for guests, organises transfers, hires specialised instructors and arranges professional equipment based on guest’s taste and skill level.
At its core, Domes Lake Algarve is very much a family-focused resort with its own kids club and organised activities for little ones throughout the day.
Food and Drink
The resort hosts an array of dining options, with a location for every taste and occasion. Gustatio draws inspiration from the Romans who once settled in Vilamoura; its menu offers delicious breakfast buffets, Portuguese comfort cuisine with a Mediterranean twist and mouth-watering desserts for a fitting finale.
Italian food enthusiasts will appreciate the homemade pasta and fine wines at Antonino’s, whilst those seeking fresh fish and Portuguese flavours will enjoy Acosta.
For an unforgettable date night, BLEND Nikkei serves up an innovative fusion of Peruvian and Japanese cuisine on a floating platform upon the lake. For a quieter experience, Adults-only
SORA offers everything from colourful fresh salads to sandwiches and sushi.
Post dinner, drinks can be enjoyed at The Migratory Bar, which provides a magical setting overlooking the lake and gardens. The signature cocktail menu is themed around the concept of migration, echoing the migratory routes of birds.
Our Experience
We had such an enjoyable stay at Domes Lake Algarve. The hotel itself was grand, beautifully decorated and the staff were all really friendly and attentive without being over the top.
Our suite was an impressive size with twin balconies that overlooked the pool, which we loved. This fast became our favourite spot, enjoying quiet time in the morning or a reflective moment before heading out in the evening.
The location was perfect. After a short walk to the marina, we enjoyed a long, relaxed lunch. We also made use of the hotel bikes to cycle to Praia da Falésia beach, which was incredibly peaceful. Both were unforgettable experiences and highlights of our trip.
During our stay, we had access to Haute Living, which is the resort’s hotel-within-a-hotel concept. The Haute Living Room was open until late in the evening and had a library of books, its own comfy seating area which was great to unwind after a day of exploring Vilamoura. The complimentary drinks and snacks were a great touch and made the experience feel even more special.
The hotel has loads of facilities to suit all kinds of travellers, with multiple pools, a spa and plenty of space to relax. Everything was really well kept. The resort is also very family-focused, with plenty of activities for little ones, a kids club and dedicated play areas.
Overall, our trip to Domes Lake Algarve was a thoroughly enjoyable retreat and one we will certainly be returning to.
