Embrace Autumn’s Cosy Charm
As we embrace a new season, we speak to Lisa Coppin, Chief Creative Officer at The Cotswold Company, about how to create a cosy home this autumn
Lisa Coppin, Chief Creative Officer at The Cotswold Company
What are the key elements you’d suggest for creating a cosy atmosphere this autumn?
Texture is key, especially for autumn, swap lighter summer fabrics for richer, more tactile ones such as a velvet cushion or a chunky knit throw, and build layers that invite you to slow down.
Try layering low-level lighting into a room, with a mix of table and floor lamps, these will avoid needing to use harsh overhead light and will help to zone spaces, whether it’s a cosy reading corner or a beautifully styled console. Lamps allow you to control the mood of a room, which is especially valuable during the darker months.
How can people refresh their home for autumn without making major changes or spending a lot?
Many of our customers come to us for timeless, well-made furniture, but we also offer a wide range of home accessories, from cushions and throws to baskets, artwork, object and home fragrance, all perfect for adding seasonal yet affordable touches to a room.
This autumn, we’ve introduced a new cushion collection in collaboration with Lancashire-based
screen printers Madder Cutch & Co. Featuring three beautiful botanical prints in different colourways inspired by the Cotswold countryside, each piece is hand screen-printed and made in the UK. Layered onto a sofa or bed with your existing cushions, they’ll add seasonal interest throughout the year.
Can you tell us a bit about what is coming up for the brand this autumn?
We have some lovely new additions this season, including our first collection of bathroom furniture and the launch of the Blockley collection. Inspired by Scandinavian principles of simplicity, function and natural materials, the Blockley range spans living room, dining room, hallway and bedroom furniture. Available in two finishes – light oak and dark oak – it’s designed to suit a wide variety of interior styles.
We’re also delighted to be working with furniture restorer and TV personality, Will Kirk, whose passion for craftsmanship and quality aligns perfectly with our own. Partnering with The Cotswold Company as our Quality Expert, the partnership will celebrate the beauty of well-made furniture and the joy of living with pieces that last a lifetime. Together, we’ll share tips on caring for your furniture, explore the stories behind some of our designs, and inspire customers to invest in pieces they’ll love for years to come.
