Manchester Gets a Beach
Therme Manchester Wellbeing Resort to bring an all-season urban beach to the city
Therme Manchester, the wellbeing resort, have announced that its huge development at TraffordCity will bring an all-season beach to Greater Manchester. The announcement came alongside the Therme Manchester Marathon which took place on Sunday 3rd April. The event is the UKβs largest spring marathon and part of Thermeβs outreach activities to boost community health and wellbeing.
The urban beach is part of a series of additions to existing plans for Therme Manchester, with many exciting elements already announced. In addition to a βnext generationβ waterpark, thermal bathing and a wellbeing spa, these include immersive digital art, an on-site urban farm and botanical gardens. This combination of features highlights Thermeβs aim to be far more than just a waterpark and spa, but to create an integrated experience to benefit physical and mental health.
Thermeβs updated plans, which are being delivered in partnership with Peel L&P, adopt the very latest technology to make the development even more sustainable and deliver additional exciting features for visitors. This includesthe worldβs first living waterslides with a 3D printed superstructure to house thousands of plants, as part of its βnext generationβ water park area.
As part of its outreach work, Therme has announced that it will also include a visitor and education centre where school and community groups can learn about sustainability, food and nature.
