My Life - Victoria Higham, Owner of Mococo

How would you describe yourself?

I’m very family-oriented and adore my four-year old twin boys, my husband and my two French bulldogs.

I would describe myself as a passionate and driven person who strives to do everything to the best of my ability. I love Mococo and I consider myself fortunate to have found a career that doesn’t feel like work at all. I love working with other women who also share the same passion and drive as myself.

Where is home? And work?

I’m originally from Lancashire, but since starting a family, I moved to Cheshire. I love the area and most days I work at Mococo’s head office, which is in Knutsford. I also spend time at our two store locations in Manchester and North Wales.

What would you do to improve the area you live in?

I love the area I live in - I tell everyone to move to Cheshire. It’s fantastic for young families and there is so much to do here with young children. There is not much I would change about it; maybe less school traffic!

Name a few of your favourite places to be...

My favourite place is Anglesey. I got married there and we also have a holiday home that we visit regularly. I love spending weekends with my boys and dogs on the beach.

I like going out to eat, my current favourite restaurant is the Stolen Lamb that’s just opened in Knutsford and also Evuna - they do the nicest Spanish tapas.

I love travelling abroad, especially to Spain, particularly Menorca. It’s the quietest of the Balearic Islands and I absolutely love how authentic it remains.

What’s the one thing that propelled you?

The challenge! Mococo, as a business, is almost 20 years old and when we acquired it in 2023, it was craving new energy and ideas. I feel we’ve brought that. We focus on an authentic and approachable service. There’s nothing more enjoyable than helping customers to discover their perfect piece of jewellery.

What was the last gift you gave someone?

I gifted our new store manager a necklace for such a fantastic start to working in the business. She loved it and it gave me great pleasure tosee how much the gesture meant to her.

What’s your favourite Christmas film?

Elf – Will Ferrell is hilarious in it.

Your favourite festive tipple?

You can’t beat a mulled wine at the Christmas markets.

What’s on your Christmas list this year?

A pair of Astley Clarke earrings and an Olivia Burton watch. Truthfully, there is so much that we sell that I’d love for Christmas, but those two items are currently at the top of my list. I’d also love a holiday if I can squeeze in some time off.

How do you typically spend your Christmas Day?

It’s all about family, and since having children, that’s been amplified even more so. We typically like to be at home to open presents first thing before joining up with family for Christmas dinner, drinks and then it wouldn’t be Christmas without some competitive family games that carry on long into the night. Karaoke always seems to make an appearance in our house!

What’s been your biggest life lesson?

If you want something badly enough, you’ll find a way to make it happen. I’ve also learnt not to have too many preconceived ideas about how things will play out in life and just to trust what’s meant to be will be.
