Kathryn Otto and partner spent a weekend in the vibrant city of Liverpool to see what it had to offer over the festive season

The Halyard Liverpool
This was our first time in the spirited Ropewalks district - named as the streets were used to manufacture ropes during the city’s maritime boom - and we left with it being our favourite area of the city.
With a prime city centre location, a fitness centre packed with Technogym and Peloton equipment, super comfortable rooms and a spacious rooftop terrace made for unwinding. The Halyard has everything you need for a Liverpool stay. Top it all off with a cocktail menu worth shouting from the Liver Building about and you’ve got the perfect base for a Liverpool stay over the Christmas period..

Voyagers Restaurant and Bar
Our maiden voyage to Voyagers, set within The Halyard, was a pleasurable one. The menu is quintessential comfort food that includes small plates from the sea, land and garden. We were spoiled for choice.
As we cascade toward Christmas, the 70-seater restaurant is offering several festive options, from festive cocktails and canapes and festive afternoon tea (complete with savoury and sweet treats) for smaller groups to a more relaxed Christmas social where groups of 6 or more are invited to share a range of their delicious festive-inspired small plates.

Christmas Shopping at Liverpool ONE
Coming up to Christmas, we couldn’t resist indulging in a little shopping and Liverpool ONE truly has it all. From DMR, Breitling and Goldsmiths for that something special, to Charlotte Tilbury and Jo Malone for beauty gift sets and John Lewis for everything in between, Liverpool ONE has a treasure trove of gifts waiting for you.
Keep an eye out for a range of family events that are coming up, including the chance to get up close and personal with Inka the Polar Bear (4th December), join in a Pass The Parcel Sing–along (11th December), plus hear your favourite Christmas tunes played by the ultra-talented Red Hot Santa Band (18th December).
