Oh What a Night!

Oh What a Night!

Cocktails were top of the menu at the Chester Best Bartender Competition in conjunction with Edinburgh Gin & Langs Rum

Hosted at Palm Cocktail Bar & Eatery; the event saw over 20 entrants from the top Chester city centre bars. The theme of the cocktails was the history of Chester and what that means to you. The evening saw theatre and stories ascending from the plague to history of the Crypt and the river.

Our very own Laura Garner joined SuzannaConnolly of Ian Macloed Distillers and other judges to critique on everything from use of ingredients, home-made ingredients to overall presentation and theme of the cocktail.

After an eventful evening of tasting and cheering, with a large industry turn out, the winners were announced.

The Edinburgh Gin and Langs Chester Best Bartender award went to Josh Jones of Palm Cocktail Bar & Eatery. Josh drew on inspiration from Cheshire Farm Ice Cream and his history with visiting since a small child; to him this is Chester. Josh created his own drink called Split Down Memory Lane; with Langs Banana Rum, Edinburgh Orange Blossom Liquor, Orgueat Syrup, home-made caramel syrup, orange bitters, Cheshire Farm Ice Cream and finally milk. This unique cocktail made for a creamy sensation of flavour and texture.

2nd place saw Ryan Maughan from Chester Racecourse win a ยฃ100 gift voucher and 3rd place went to Iona Davies from Red Door with a creation based on her childhood and teenage years on the Cheshire Meadows.

The awards mark the 1st annual Chester Best Bartender Competition; with the awards scheduled to return next year. And we canโ€™t wait!
