Following great success in Spain and the US, Yondu, (www.yondu.co.uk), the South Korean seasoning sauce made from umami rich vegetables, is the new star of the UK store cupboard.

The sauce, which is uniquely different to any other store cupboard staples, is made from organic, protein-rich soybeans blended with a simmered eight vegetable* broth, which are then fermented for three months to allow the rich umami flavour to develop.

Yondu is set to become a versatile staple cooking sauce and condiment in British kitchens, for all styles of cuisine, as it helps unlock the taste of ingredients and is proving to be particularly popular with foodies who enjoy a vegetable centric diet. It is organic, 100% plant based, suitable for vegans and is gluten free.

Adding just a few teaspoons of Yondu to broths, soups, stir-fries and any other everyday meal, creates a quick and easy boost of flavour and balance to dishes. It is also a great plant-based alternative to bouillon, concentrated stock, or fish sauce and can be added to recipes at any stage of the cooking process.

Yondu is available to purchase via its UK website and through Amazon, retailing at Β£4.00 for a 125ml bottle and Β£6.88 for 275ml. Visit www.yondu.co.uk/recipes/ for cooking inspiration.

Yondu was created by Sempio, a family-run South Korean food company established in 1946, which was the first to start developing plant-based fermented specialities. Sempio has stayed true to its founder’s philosophy of only creating food products that he would want his children eating every day. Vegetable consumption in South Korea is among the highest per head in the world and Sempio’s products have become an essential household brand in Korean cuisine to add flavour and taste to dishes.
