3 of the Best : Afternoon Teas

3 of the Best : Afternoon Teas

More than 150 years after the seventh Duchess of Bedford began serving a meal between lunch and dinner, the afternoon tea continues to be a popular British tradition

Baluchi. The LaLit London

Baluchi is the pan-Indian dining destination within The LaLiT London, offering dining with a difference. Set in the historic Grade II-listed hotel’s Great Hall, reminiscent of its former existence as 19th Century St. Olave’s Grammar School’s assembly hall, Baluchi is exquisite and decadent. Restored vaulted ceilings and magnificent Hyderabadi hand-crafted, deep cobalt, glass chandeliers warm the space and large windows allow natural light to flood the restaurant.

Enjoy an alternative High Chai afternoon tea which balances traditional English favourites with a signature Indian twist, with unique treats including Chooza Pakoda and Punjabi samosas, alongside mango lassi, a selection of teas, or accompanied by a glass of champagne.

The Chester Grosvenor

Served daily at The Chester Grosvenor since 1882, the tradition of β€˜taking tea’ has been enjoyed by many since its launch and is long established as being the finest afternoon tea in Chester. The afternoon tea includes a selection of hand-made sandwiches, freshly baked plain and fruit scones served with clotted cream and strawberry preserve, finished off with an assortment of home-made French pastries and fancies.

The Chester Grosvenor has recently introduced the Taittinger Champagne Flight so you can enjoy a tasting of three Taittinger Champagnes to add an extra feeling of decadence to your afternoon tea. Each Champagne offered as a 100ml tasting is carefully selected to accompany each tier of your afternoon tea.
