Case Study : Aspen House by Callender Howorth
A Contemporary Approach on a Country Home
Deep in Buckinghamshireβs countryside was a 6000 square feet neo-Georgian House built in the early nineties, filled with potential. Mark Howorth took this diamond in the rough and sculpted a true contemporary design gem.
Taking the home and stripping it back to its brick foundations, Callender Howorth completely revamped the interior design of the astonishing residence, having then curated the furniture and home dΓ©cor selection as well. Among this selection is a standout accent piece by BRABBU that brings the opulent country house aesthetic to life in the most glamorous and eccentric way possible.
The brief from the client requested a βsublime and luxurious homeβ that was energetic and elegant with a sassy twist β and the result fit like a glove. Entering the home, one is greeted by a double staircase with renewed marble flooring thatβs shined upon by a bespoke lighting fixture crafted in hand-blown glass, an item that serves as a unique signature piece that allows the clientβs personality to be an integral part of the project β something fundamental to Callender Howorthβs work philosophy.
Going up the stairwell on to the first floor, one finds the master bedroom. This spacious suite is entirely decorated in accordance to a neutral colour palette, with occasional striking pieces lending their visual impact so as to create a more intricate final look. One of these being the SAYA Mirror by BRABBU, sitting above the sleek white dresser.
The SAYA Mirror is composed by a polished nickel concave frame β which perfectly echoes the roomβs grey tones β with an undulating surface covered in casted brass details, and a convex mirror. These shapes recreate the oceanic bank this mirror was named after, all while adding a daring je ne sais quoi to the dΓ©cor.
Like the remaining bedrooms in the house, the main bedroom has its own ensuite bathroom, dressing room and seating area, providing the entire family with some much-needed personal space.
Finally, taking into consideration the clientβs passion to entertain, a custom cinema was designed. Aiming to create a true cinematic experience, Callender Howorth worked closely with an audio-visual specialist and installed custom-made cinema chairs which adjust automatically to the userβs physiognomy while simultaneously featuring illuminated cup holders and being covered soft chenille fabrics, all to achieve ultimate lush comfort.
