MY PROJUVENATE EXPERIENCE:

Looking at Health from the Inside Out

I’m always interested in discovering new ways we can look after ourselves, not simply how we look on the outside, but how well our bodies and minds are actually functioning.

So, when I was invited to experience Projuvenate, a new medically led health, wellness and longevity clinic in the North West, I was really intrigued. Projuvenate brings together physiotherapy, strength and fitness, mental wellness, longevity and aesthetic treatments, with doctors, physiotherapists and other qualified professionals working alongside some seriously impressive technology.

What struck me straight away, though, was how welcoming it felt. High-tech clinics can sometimes feel quite clinical and intimidating, but the team were warm, friendly and knowledgeable and I always felt that everything was being properly explained to me.

Putting my body to the test

One of the most interesting parts of my experience was my physiotherapy and strength assessment with Rob.

My assessment included detailed isometric strength testing of my hips, quads, calves and shoulders. The idea behind this type of testing is not simply to identify problems after an injury but to help individualise training, reduce injury risk and support long-term health and performance.

The results were fascinating.

My hip extension strength was extremely good, but my right side was 13% weaker than my left. More significantly, the testing showed that my left calf was 44% weaker than my right and my left quad was 22% weaker than my right.

My shoulder assessment also highlighted reduced external rotation strength through the rotator cuff, something that could potentially contribute to compensations around my neck.

This was probably one of my biggest takeaways from Projuvenate. You can train several times a week, play sport and feel perfectly healthy, yet technology like this can identify weaknesses and imbalances that you simply wouldn’t know were there.

Rob gave me specific exercises to work on, with a particular focus on supported rotator cuff movements to strengthen and stabilise my shoulder.

For me, that’s where testing becomes genuinely useful: information is only valuable when you know what to do with it.

Training my brain with EXOMIND

The other treatment I was particularly interested in was EXOMIND.

I’ve always wanted to understand more about brain health and how we can work on the mind in the same way that we work on our physical fitness. Projuvenate offers EXOMIND as part of its mental-wellness services, an area of the clinic focused on things such as cognitive function and emotional wellbeing.

My personal goals were to improve my focus and stress resilience.

I had a consultation with Dr Libby beforehand, where we discussed what I wanted from the experience and what I could expect. During each 25 minute session, the device sits against the side of the head while Libby stays with you throughout.

My first appointment followed a particularly busy day at CPASE and I was already tired. I became so relaxed during the session that I found myself drifting into a light sleep and afterwards I felt absolutely exhausted.

Over the following three weeks I completed six sessions, twice a week. By the end of the course, I genuinely noticed a change in myself. I felt more focused, more productive and better able to deal with multiple tasks without getting that feeling of mental overwhelm.

And dare I say it, I even felt more focused during my padel matches!

A little extra rejuvenation

I also experienced some of Projuvenate’s aesthetic and body treatments.

For my skin, I tried PRP (platelet-rich plasma treatment). Blood was taken from my arm and processed to separate the platelet-rich plasma, which was then applied back into my facial skin as part of the treatment. A detailed facial analysis was carried out before my sessions so we could monitor changes.

After each treatment my skin immediately felt tight and lifted, with a little temporary swelling and within around 12 hours my skin felt amazing. After three sessions, I could personally see a noticeable difference.

I also tried EMSCULPT NEO on my glutes, which was another completely different high-tech experience. Afterwards, my glutes certainly felt as though they had worked and for me they looked and felt noticeably more lifted.

The bigger picture

My Projuvenate experience reinforced something I talk about a lot; health isn’t one-dimensional.

It’s strength, movement, recovery, skin, confidence, mental wellbeing, brain health and understanding what is happening inside your body, not simply waiting until something goes wrong.

What I particularly liked was the combination of advanced technology with experienced, medically trained professionals. Projuvenate describes its approach as bringing physical and mental wellbeing together through personalised treatment and advanced technology and that very much reflected my experience.

For me, the physio testing was a real eye-opener and has given me specific areas to work on in my own training, while my EXOMIND experience has made me even more interested in the connection between our physical health, brain health and performance.

Because longevity shouldn’t just be about living longer, it should be about doing everything we can to live well, move well and feel well along the way.
