Katie Barrell visited The Lowry Theatre in Salford to watch the acclaimed stage version of The Shawshank Redemption
Showing at the Lowry Theatre in Salford until the 5th November The Shawshank Redemption is a story of Innocence, determination, desperation and survival within a maximum security prison.
The unlikely friendship of wrongly convicted for double murder Andy Dufresne played by Joe Albsolom and prison fixer Red played by Ben Onwukwe had everyone gripped to their seats willing them both to find a way out and support each other through each day many of which can be brutal.
The supporting cast and backdrop staging of this play are truly outstanding and transport you into the world behind bars. The screen writing shows a clever transition from the big screen to the theatre stage and they truly do justice to the well know Stephen King story.
This comes highly recommended and if you are a fan of the award winning film and is certainly not to be missed.
With an amazing cast who on opening night went out to a well deserved standing ovation, do not miss your chance to enjoy this magnificent story come alive on stage.
