WEEKEND AWAY: Tattershall Lakes Country Park
Laura McInerney enjoyed a family fun-packed weekend at Tattershall Lakes Country Park in Lincolnshire
Location
Framed by the sweeping beauty of the Lincolnshire countryside, Tattershall Lakes Country Park is ideally located and in easy reach of the county’s coastline, perfect for sunny family days out to the beach. Natural areas such as Dogdyke Pumping Station are close by and there is a lovely walking route along the River Bain. For further family fun, Tattershall Farm Park and 15th century Tattershall Castle are nearby,
Accomodation
The park is very welcoming of the whole family, meaning you can bring your furry friend on holiday with you. A variety of accommodation options are available, each with its own quirky charm. For our stay, we chose The Rockstar, a boldly curated space where Union Jack hues of red, white and blue meet monochrome zebra-print accents on the dining chairs and tartan touches on the curtains, pillows and bedspread. The Union Jack feature wall was a stand out. My daughter particularly loved the phone box door which was the perfect backdrop for some rockstar selfies. She also loved spending time in the private hot tub, which is available with many of the accommodations. The master bedroom had a supersoft king size bed and the second bedroom had cozy bunk beds which my little one enjoyed.
Facilities
Tattershall Lakes boasts an impressive array of facilities, there was something for everyone. The stage area hosted the entertainment which was thoroughly enjoyable, there were also plenty of hospitality areas to enjoy and a covered outdoor play area for the little ones to release their energy. The entertainment team were exceptional, particularly Kate, whose bubbly personality and encouragement to the children made the zip line a highlight. Our daughter also loved the fact rabbits were happily skipping around the surrounding area, especially early in the morning, adding to the charm of the park.
Events
Tattershall Lakes hosts a number of exciting events throughout the year. From an enchanted Winterfest in December to family foam parties in the summer months. This year, the nostalgia-packed Y2K Festival took place with performances from Boyzlife, Booty Luv and DJ Sash!, alongside silent discos, Crowdeoke (which was a mass karaoke), pyjama movie nights, and more.
We timed our visit to attend the Rock the Lakes Festival, which was lovely. We enjoyed watching the acts throughout the day and DJ’s Roman Kemp and Woody Cookand.
Final Thought
Tattershall Lakes Country Park is a lovely Lincolnshire retreat which I would definitely give to family and friends for a lovely family break away. Be sure to check the calendar for their upcoming events - the Y2K Festival returns next year from Friday 10th to Sunday 12th July and promises more amazing music and non-stop entertainment!
