My Life in Cheshire - Benjamin Sherbrooke Roberts
Benjamin Sherbrooke Roberts , Managing Director at Clogau
How would you describe yourself?
Quietly observant with a sense of humour that takes some time to adjust to.
Where is home? And work?
Well, I live in the centre of Chester, but I work in North Wales. Very close to St Asaph.
What did you want to be when you were younger?
An Architect and a Formula 1 Driver. Iβm still not sure how I hoped to hold both those jobs down at the same time.
Name a few of your favourite places to be...
Santorini, Amalfi or the South of France β not necessarily in that order. Although I do usually spend a lot of time in Hong Kong for work purposes and I absolutely love it there but mainly to visit friends and to enjoy the pace of the city.
What or who inspires you?
I take inspiration from many people, places or even jewellery brands. For me inspiration is a bit like advice, you never take everything that someone offers you in terms of advice, you take small parts of it then you make your own decision. Itβs the same with inspiration for me. In my role I take pride in finding inspiration for design, for stories and even other jewellery brands.
What was the last gift you gave someone?
A divorce settlement, does that count? No not really, I suppose it would be something I do at work. We do a lot of gifting to charities or celebrities, so I guess Iβve probably sent out a few of these this week. I last sent a watch for Gethin Jones who has become a good friend.
Tell us a secret/fun fact?
You might start seeing the Clogau brand in and around Chester a little more over the next couple of months. Oh, and Iβm driving again.
Who or what would you place in Room 101?
Pandora Bracelets
Whatβs been your biggest life lesson?
There are so many humorous answers I could reply to thisβ¦ but Iβll skip all the driving advice and avoid flying Emirates stories and skip right to good old simple hard work. During the past few months myself and a close team at Head Office have worked tirelessly through lockdown and have managed to morph the company into even better shape. No time off, simply concentrating on adapting and surviving. Iβm immensely proud of the team for this.
